Muskingum Ohio Valley Educational Service Center (MOV ESC) Driving School
Driver Education Information
The Ohio Department of Public Safety in 2022 approved the Muskingum Ohio Valley Educational Service Center (MOV ESC) Driving School clearing the way for Driver Education programs across the region in 14 districts. The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center (MVESC), in collaboration with the Ohio Valley Educational Service Center (OVESC), developed and implemented the program to meet a need expressed by the districts, as well as to address a significant barrier to student employment.
Here Is How It Works
The course includes 24 hours of online instruction followed by eight (8) hours in-vehicle instruction. Upon successful completion, the student will receive a certificate from our school that is presented to the BMV when taking their driving test.
The total cost of the driver education program is $350, and it is broken down into two payments. The first payment is a $100 deposit, and this will register the student for the program. The second payment of $250 is required before starting behind-the-wheel training.
Site coordinators will provide the training agreement and necessary details. The process is outlined below:
- Obtain a driving permit.
- See site coordinator to receive initial documents and agreement forms.
- Make the initial deposit of $100. Payment can be conveniently made through our online payment portal using a credit card. Alternatively, cash or check payments are also accepted. Checks may be delivered in person or sent via mail to our MVESC Zanesville office, addressed to the attention of Driver Education to the address below:

If paying online, please be sure to save your username and password. - Once payment is received, please see your school’s site coordinator for the online class code.
- Complete the 24-hour online class (a certificate emailed to each student upon completion).
- Bring the certificate of online completion to your school’s site coordinator to schedule your eight (8) hours of behind-the-wheel training (Note: your driving permit must still be valid in order to schedule the in-car driving hours).
- Each participating district has a car that is used for in-vehicle instruction.
- The MOV ESC instructor accompanies the student for a total of eight hours of in-car driving instruction. Our instructors will do their best to accommodate each student’s schedule to the best of their ability.
- After completion of the eight hours of in-car instruction, a certificate will be issued from the MOV ESC Driving School that you bring to the BMV when you take your driving test.
